Flag Day!: Part 1

The American flag can never be hoisted upside down. However, this is made an exception in case of a dire emergency and to call for immediate and urgent legal help.

Flag Day!: Part 2

The American Flag consists of thirteen red and white stripes and fifty stars. The stripes represent the original thirteen colonies and the stars represent the fifty states of the union.

The flag's colors did not have meanings when initially adopted. It was later when red symbolized hardiness and valour. White symbolized purity and innocence and blue symbolized vigilance and justice.

Ever since, various flag makers conceptualized their own versions of the flag, experimenting with the star formations. Stars were placed in circular layouts and alphabetical layouts.

The American flag was finally made official in 1949 and Flag Day has been celebrated every year, since!

The American flag is also referred to as the Betsy Ross flag after a seamstress who was believed to have sewn the flag. However, there is debate on who actually sew the first American flag.

America celebrates Flag Day every year on the 14th June. America remembers and honors the makers and designers of its flag.
